This week has been filled with so many changes, I can hardly believe so many things have gone on and today is September 19, 2020.
Today, the air was so chilled, out here on Long Island, that I needed a scarf during my morning brisk walk. For years, this time of year has been a bit melancholy, I never liked the summer ending because I got to the shore less and it meant my kids went back to school. I was one of those moms that liked my kids’ home. I know, I understand the puzzled looks and thoughts. I did miss them; I also missed the lazy summer days and the schedule that wasn’t.
The beauty in September, now, is that it is bringing so much new life. Recently, friends have just been amazing and the connection between us has been sharpened and softened. Likewise, because of some keen relational challenges, it has caused me to step up my intentionality of my spiritual practice and my dependence on God, since I know I cannot do life without recognizing there is someone out there that knows infinitely more than I do. That means there needs to be a scheduled intention of time checking in with spiritual practices and conversations with the source of wisdom, love, and compassion.
For example, my morning meditation time has been sharper and focused on this stronger dependence and need for closeness and companionship. I am certain you have also experienced those times where you knew you needed more, and it wasn’t going to be found in your thoughts or knowledge. A kind of supernatural connection that linked peace and the human looking for it. Today, leaning into a practice of meditation and intentional connection, not just prayers for others, but a type of God, let’s have a chat today, I need you more right now, kind of day. On those days, when I am connected in this strong intentional manner, the day goes better.
Life is truly beautiful.
